  9. reliable of the major showers, the Perseids
  10. are slowly declining from a peak during 
  11. the 1970s. Rates may exceed 100/hour. 
  12. There is a wide variety of meteors, the 
  13. fainter ones being white of yellow, 
  14. brighter ones, green, orange or red. 
  15. About 1/3 leave trails. Occasional fireballs 
  16. often ending in bursts. This is
  17. a very good photographic shower.
